What this checks

  • Title length. Up to 75 characters including spaces, since July 27, 2026, in every category except Media. Counted per character, so an emoji or an accented letter counts once.
  • Bullet points. Each must be under 255 characters. A typed marker at the start of a line (•, -, *) is not counted, because Amazon draws its own bullet.
  • Item Highlights. Up to 125 characters, and shown only when the title fits 75.
  • Search Terms. Up to 249 bytes. Bytes, not characters: é takes 2 bytes and — takes 3, so a character counter understates the field.
  • Other checks, each labeled with its source: banned title characters and words used more than twice (Amazon rule), Search Terms words already in the title, repeated or with punctuation (Amazon guidance), promotional phrases, ALL-CAPS words and decorative symbols in the title (Amazon guideline, shown as warnings).

The same text always gets the same result. Listing Studio uses this exact rule check in every audit, then writes rewrites and cuts each rewritten field to fit these limits.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Amazon product title limit in 2026?
Since July 27, 2026, Amazon limits product titles to 75 characters, spaces included, in every category except Media (books, music, video and software).
What happens if my Amazon title is over 75 characters?
The listing is not suppressed. Amazon gradually replaces an over-limit title with its own AI-shortened version. Brand owners get 14 days to review the change in Seller Central; after that the shortened title goes live by default. Shortening the title yourself keeps the wording your choice.
How long can Item Highlights be?
Up to 125 characters. Amazon shows Item Highlights only when the title fits the 75-character limit, so shorten the title first.
What is the Amazon Search Terms limit?
249 bytes. The limit is counted in bytes, not characters: plain letters, digits and spaces take 1 byte each, an accented letter such as é takes 2 and a symbol such as — takes 3.
How long can an Amazon bullet point be?
Each bullet point must be under 255 characters.
Is my listing text sent anywhere?
No. The checks run in your browser with code on this page. Nothing you paste here is sent to L-Guard or anyone else, and no account is needed.
